The Artist: Richard Zucco
Richard Zucco founded Misty Arts Company in 1977, with the sole purpose of painting abstracts in a unique way he had envisioned since he was in his early teens. He continued the pursuit of this endeavor on a full time basis, constantly experimenting and learning his trade. Since what he envisioned was unique, there was no one to teach and no where to learn except through experimentation. After nearly 25 years, he's still learning....and that's the enjoyment.
He has developed a style of working in liquid acrylics that gives the illusion of liquids frozen in time. Like working with molten glass, there is a three-dimensional quality about his work. Transferring this three-dimensional illusion to a two-dimensional canvas has been the greatest challenge. When you view his work, you will understand his strive for perfection.
Although he has deliberately stayed low-key, his paintings hang in homes and offices throughout the United States and several foreign countries. He has received numerous awards over the years and many collections include five or more paintings.
He stayed low-key, waiting for the day when he would master his trade and paint the perfect painting. It took over 20 years for him to realize that day would never come. Contrary to popular belief, practice does not make perfect. But, it does make you better. With this realizing fact, he has resigned himself to be content with constantly improving and striving for that elusive goal....the perfect painting. As his personal standards rise year after year, so do his expectations of himself. He continues to paint for himself to fulfill his selfish expectation with the hopes that someone else will enjoy the works he produces as he travels through life pursuing that elusive perfect painting
